School Support
Independent Educational Evaluations
At the request of a family or school district, we provide Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for students who present with challenging diagnostic/behavioral profiles and are making minimal progress in school despite receiving educational modifications and extensive supports. An IEE can include interviews with caregivers and professionals in the student’s life, administration and scoring of psychological assessments, direct observations of the student in the classroom setting, and a comprehensive report that summarizes findings and provides detailed recommendations. We also offer support in the implementation of our recommendations.
Functional Behavior Assessments
At the request of a family or school district, we also provide Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for students who exhibit very complex behaviors that are interfering with their educational progress. The purpose of the FBA is to collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and other school professionals in the development of a behavior intervention plan that will help the student become more successful. An FBA will include interviews with caregivers and professionals in the student’s life, direct observations of the student in the classroom setting, and a comprehensive report that summarizes findings and provides detailed recommendations. We also offer support in the implementation of our recommendations.
Classroom Observation & Consultation
Sometimes families and schools need practical, timely guidance, without a full evaluation. We offer a focused Classroom Observation & Consultation service designed to provide schools and families with a rapid, practical starting point. We observe the student within their everyday classroom environment, consult with school staff and parents, and, when appropriate, talk with the student to understand what may be contributing to the difficulties they are experiencing. Whether concerns involve challenging or dysregulated behavior, disengagement, withdrawal, anxiety, difficulties with classroom demands or another puzzling presentation, the focus is on identifying practical “quick wins” and realistic strategies that can be implemented immediately. This streamlined service is designed to be timely, accessible and high-impact, providing research-informed recommendations without the time or cost associated with a comprehensive evaluation. When the observation suggests that further assessment or support may be helpful, this can also provide a useful starting point for deciding what comes next.
